The US premiere of Dreams of Anne Frank
The US premiere of "Dreams of Anne Frank", written by British playwright Bernard Kops is being produced and presented by the Main Street Theatre Company at the Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga California from January 18th - February 2nd 2008.

Mireya (Murry) Hepner, the Playhouse Production Coordinator invited Holocaust survivors to join the cast on stage after the matinee performances, January 19th, 26th and February 2nd when she moderates a discussion and Question and Answer exchange with the audience, the cast and the visiting Holocaust survivors about the play and the Holocaust.

Dr. Brauns is participating in this discussion on all three afternoons.

Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center celebration of Older Americans Month
Dr. Brauns speaking at the podium at the Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center for Adult classes at an event to honor Older Americans and their achievements during the celebration of Older Americans Month.

Dr. Brauns was honored for writing his autobiography in his senior years and was acknowledged for his account of how he overcame the hardships he endured during the holocaust stressing survival skills he utilized which saved his life.

The coordinator was Denise Tornatore.

Sierra Vista High School in Baldwin Park, CA
Dr. Brauns speaking to 1000 History students at Sierra Vista High School Gymnasium in Baldwin Park, CA about his story of survival in the Holocaust arranged by History Teachers, Mrs. Araceli Castillo-Parrales and Ms. Monica Ponce.

All these students listened attentively to his lecture. The 10th grade World History class saw the documentary of "Secrets of the Kovno Ghetto" so they would be familiar with what they would be hearing.

Sierra Vista High School Students discussion group
Dr. Brauns having an intimate discussion with Sierra Vista High School Students in the library where students had the opportunity to ask Dr. Brauns questions. This followed the talk in the gymnasium.

Former Sargeant Clifford Caster meets with Dr. Jack Brauns
Former Sargeant Clifford Caster, member of the Medical Detachment of the 2nd Battalion 222nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd "Rainbow" Infantry Division, entered Dachau and witnessed the liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp on April 29, 1945.

After reading an article in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune/Highland May 22, 2008 about Dr. Brauns' autobiography and his account of his interment in Dachau, Sargeant Caster was determined to meet him.

Mrs Elizabeth Montes and Dr. Jack Brauns at the Baldwin Park Community Center.

Dr. Brauns was invited as an inspirational speaker, arranged by coordinator Denise Tornatore to expose the group to his book, and his philosophy, of "How to Turn Despair into an Appreciation of Life".

People were very interested in reading the book and especially to exposing its positive philosophy to their children.

Talk with Book Club of the Assistance League of Covina Valley

Mrs. Jackie Miller, a long standing member of the Assistance League of Covina Valley gave 18 members each Dr. Brauns' book, Recollections and Reflections.

She invited Dr. Brauns to speak to the book club members after they read the book. A very good exchange of ideas between the club members and the author made the event memorable for everyone who said they were inspired by Dr. Brauns' philosophy of life, his tools of survival and his positive attitude..

American Jewish University in Los Angeles, CA sponsored by ADL (Anti-Defamation League) Associate Director Matthew Friedman of the Pacific Southwest Region ADL invited Dr. Jack Brauns, survivor, to participate and share his testimony with the participants.

Bearing Witness Program strives to reach out to teachers in the Catholic school system to teach them about historical relationship between early Christianity and Judaism, anti-Semitism and role of Church, and how to teach the Holocaust in Catholic schools.
